This role is working 38 weeks per year during school term time plus INSET plus 6 weeks holiday to be taken during school closure periods.

About the role:

As Behaviour and Welfare Lead at Mill School Bury, you will be an integral part of our team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do. The main purpose of the role is to enable all pupils to engage in education by providing leadership and support around student welfare, behavioural and attendance issues. This will involve working with staff, parents/carers and pupils to promote positive behaviour among all pupils, help pupils overcome barriers to learning such as challenging behaviour, address barriers to learning and make sure effective policies and procedures are in place.  To coach, support and train staff to implement behaviour interventions. To plan, deliver and evaluate the impact of behaviour interventions. To work with external agencies as required.

About you:

For this role, we are looking for someone who has experience of working within a school environment or other educational setting (ideally across all key stages), and with children/young people with additional needs (e.g. SEND, behavioural, mental health). You will have a well-developed understanding of strategies to manage and support young people with challenging behaviour and experience of delivering programmes, including one to one, small groups and whole class activities. You will be confident in advising staff on suitable behaviour interventions. and will have worked closely with families/carers of young people with additional needs, including carrying out home visits.

About us:

Mill School Bury, part of Kedleston Group, is an independent specialist day school in Greater Manchester, for children and young people aged between the ages of 7 and 17. Our purpose built state-of-the-art school provides a safe learning environment for those with social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and those living with autism (ASC), who also face other challenges such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia and attachment disorder (AD).
