About the role:

As Assistant Head Teacher – Education at Brookways School, you will be an integral part of our team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do. You will take a central role in assisting the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and Kedleston Governance to develop our school in accordance with its shared values and our school development plans. You will teach but will have a significant amount of dedicated leadership time which will be non-class based. From time to time you will teach classes to model good practice, develop relationships, support training and development and ensure ‘quality teaching first’ and secure the smooth running of the school. The role will also take lead responsibility for ensuring the best possible curriculum offer, provision, wellbeing, progress and achievement for all children especially through enrichment, creative learning, extended services, partnerships and collaboration.

About you:

For this role, we are looking for someone has experience as a teacher across the primary and/or secondary age range; an experienced curriculum and team leader, a leader in assessment for learning and assessing pupils’ progress and a key person in the senior leadership team. You will fulfill the role of Leader of Learning and Achievement and support, lead and manage teaching and learning in and beyond the classroom.

About us:

Brookways School, part of Kedleston Group, is an independent specialist day school in North Cheam, for children and young people aged between the ages of 7 and 16. We provide a safe learning environment for pupils living with autism (ASC), mainly Asperger’s Syndrome and higher functioning autism, who also face other challenges such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia and pathological demand avoidance (PDA).
