Our Development and Estates Manager Chris Kennedy is set to tackle an uphill challenge to raise vital funds for charity.
The intrepid Chris will take on a 26-mile sponsored walk as part of Macmillan’s Mighty Hike which will see him traverse a route through the Peak District. It’s a challenge close to his heart and one he is determined to complete.
He said: “My family has been affected by cancer in so many ways; I lost my mother and first wife to cancer; other loved ones have been affected and I am fighting my own battle with prostate cancer – so this is a very personal challenge. And quite a hilly challenge too!
“I first planned to take part in the Hike three years ago, but it was cancelled twice due to COVID. I’m hoping to raise more than £500 for this great cause.”
Chris is known as a keen photographer and is sure to snap some amazing selfies taking in the stunning panorama during his walk, which co-incidentally takes place on July 23rd, his 58th birthday.
He said: “I’ve been in training and I think it will take me about 10 hours to complete the walk which includes 2,306ft of elevation changes. As health and safety is part of my role, I’ve checked that everything is in order. And as someone who previously worked for mountain rescue, it would be incredibly embarrassing if I had to be helped down the mountain, so failure is not an option!”
