The Kedleston Group’s LEGO competition saw entries flood in from children and young people from across the organisation’s schools and homes.
The event was held to celebrate the historic coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort Camilla with the aim being to create the best LEGO sculpture celebrating the British Monarchy.
Judging took place recently where a panel faced were with the incredibly difficult job of choosing winners from a wealth of wonderful entries which included palaces, carriages and many, many more royal-themed creations.
The creations were considered by a panel of VIP judges including Andy Smith, one half of the Smash Life duo. Andy and his brother Matt are founders of the award-winning company Smash Life which offers mentoring, speaking, training, group work, events and experiences for children and adults.
Andy said: “It was a huge pleasure to be involved. I was blown away by the skill level and I just love the fact the children want to participate in competitions like this.”
Angela Nightingale is a Non-Executive Director at Kedleston and was also on the judging panel. She said: “The hard work put in by the young people is so uplifting. It was wonderful to see so many entries and the high quality of all of them made our judging job incredibly difficult!
“The competition has been a fitting way of celebrating and marking the historic occasion and the enthusiasm and incredible creativity and skill shown by the children has been wonderful to see. Their attention to detail was phenomenal. And it was lovely to also see so many entries made by groups, which showed how well people worked together as a team to make these wonderful creations.”
The winners have been contacted through the schools individually, with certificates and prizes to follow over the next week or so.
Congratulations to everyone to took part, we really were impressed with the skill and talent on display and look forward to next years’ LEGO competition.
