A Green Tree Schools Award encourages outdoor learning and inspires children and young people about trees, woods and wildlife.
Through the award, schools take part in fun, practical projects while helping the environment and improving the school grounds.
Children and young people can earn certificates in recognition of their achievements and a special plaque to display in their school.
Schools are rewarded for doing environmental projects such as tree planting, reducing CO2 emissions and visiting woods. Points are collected for each activity completed, progressing through bronze, silver and gold levels up to the prestigious platinum award.
This week, the children and young people from Wings School Cumbria received a certificate for a Bronze Award! They are planning to try and earn even more points to obtain the next level certificate by continuing their amazing work.
Wings School Cumbria have a vision to create a safe, and caring community where there is a passion for learning and mutual respect for all. Children and young people have the opportunity to develop to their full potential in preparation for their future lives.
Outdoor learning is a key part of the offer at the school, and can lead to development of social communication skills, increased physical health and an increase in mental heatlh and wellbeing.
What a fantastic achievement!
