A group of Wings Cumbria students were lucky enough to visit Bendrigg Lodge Outdoor Centre for a day of activities including rock climbing, abseiling, caving and zip wire.
Bendrigg lodge helps children to develop independence with tutors working with individuals to encourage them to make their own decisions, helping them to take ownership & responsibility. Through the safe provision of adventure activities, the centre gently supports people to face their fears and get outside their comfort zones. This becomes a powerful tool for personal growth and this confidence is then transferable back home making a positive impact on their daily lives.
Ben said: "My favourite activity was the rock climbing and I'm really proud that I did the three hardest climbs". Phil said: "I really enjoyed the abseiling even though I was hanging over the edge."
All of the students dealt with the heat really well, achieved more than they thought was possible for them, built their confidence and had a really great time.
