Congratulations to Hilary Cowperthwaite from Wings School Cumbria who was nominated for ‘Inspirational Worker of the year’ as part the Cumbria Children in Care Council Annual Awards 2019.
`Celebrating Us` Cumbria Children in Care Council Annual Awards celebrate the achievements of children and young people who are looked after in Cumbria and the people who support them.
Hilary started off her career at Wings School Cumbria 15 years ago as a Care Worker, she then moved on to becoming a Teaching Assistant at the school for a number of years. She transitioned back to the Care Team and worked her way up to her current role as House Manager. Hilary’s commitment to the children and to Wings School Cumbria is ‘outstanding!’.
Wings School Cumbria provides residential care provision with individually tailored support. The modern, comfy children's homes sleep up to six young people in their own, personalised bedrooms with newly refurbished and decorated communal living spaces. Staff are trained to support young people integrating from a residential school setting in to a semi-supported residential setting.
There is an emphasis on maximising individual potential to provide each young person with strategies to successfully progress into adult life. The range of activities and services young people can access is increased to help develop their confidence.
From everyone at the Kedleston Group we would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ for your continued hard work and dedication. You really are an inspiration.
