Sarah’s* placement started at Wings Cumbria in 2015. Initially, she was accommodated in Swift House has and then transitioned to the school’s post 16 accommodation. This allowed her to attend a local FE college where she studied child care and to build independent living skills.
Her mum has written in with some great feedback;
‘I write offering a massive thank you to all staff at Wings.
As a parent, it was never my wish for Sarah to attend an EBD school. How wrong I was! Wings has turned out to be a saviour for us both.
Absolutely everyone, teachers, care staff, office staff, and psychologists have been instrumental in setting Sarah on the right path.
Her education at Wings with intensive teaching and support staff, along with small classes gave Sarah confidence she never gained in mainstream school and this continued in her chosen college.
The outdoor education, horses, hens, and pigs gave Sarah pleasure and responsibility. The care staff, beginning in Swift House and latterly Swan House (Post 16) gave her the family environment along with firm boundaries and life skills. All are superb members of your staff team who go above and beyond their remits.
Sarah leaves Wings now equipped with the tools, morals, and foundations to lead a good and happy life.’
All the staff at Wings Cumbria wish Sarah well in her next step in life.
