  • All of the young people are involved in the recruitment and interviewing process for new staff.

Careers – Thinking about the future?

We will support your child/young person towards the best possible future pathway. We will work closely with you on your child`s hopes, dreams and aspirations.

Through Learner Profile documents, Progression Plans and meetings including LAC Reviews, EHCPs and TAC meetings Wings build information of what children and young people want from their futures and how best to support them.

All those in KS4 are given the chance to experience a different learning environment. This could be at Lancaster and Morecambe College (LMC) to study Construction, Catering, Hair & Beauty or Sports Coaching. LMC provides bespoke courses for our children and young people with the opportunity to experience a mainstream college. There is also the opportunity to  complete qualifications in Equine Skills and Stable Management.

This provides children and young people with a chance to experience a different way of learning, interact with people completing apprenticeships and be part of a professional environment.

In KS4 children and young people look at different routes to employment and discuss what options are available to them. They apply for apprenticeships, training courses, post 16 colleges and 6th forms. Wings support young people to prepare for open days, visits and interviews.

Evidence collected shows that those who have attended alternative provision with the support of Wings in KS4 have been more successful in Post 16.
