At Wings all young people follow a personalised curriculum designed to ensure they make the best possible progress in all aspects of their social, emotional, communication, interaction and learning development.  Opportunities for each young person are specifically designed to support them to work towards the outcomes identified in their Education and Health Care Plan.  Young people are able to study a full range of GCSE and vocational courses, outdoor education and equine assisted learning. Each young person is supported to achieve a range of qualifications to enable them to take the next step in their education, to pursue their chosen career and to become and independent adult.

The school is set within the beautiful, rural countryside which provides a brilliant opportunity for off-site learning. Facilities include full sized playing pitches, a sports hall, moto-cross & mountain bike tracks and our on-site farm with access to equestrian facilities, to name but a few. The outdoor learning enables those children and young people who find working in a classroom difficult the chance to re-engage in their education and the school community.

Enabling young people to form and maintain positive relationships with both adults and other young people, is a key priority at Wings and perhaps the most important factor in achieving positive outcomes for the young people in all areas of their development.

Wings Cumbria provides residential provision with individually tailored support. The modern, comfy children's homes sleep up to six young people in their own, personalised bedrooms with newly refurbished and decorated communal living spaces. Staff are trained to support young people integrating from a residential school setting in to a semi-supported residential setting.

There is an emphasis on maximising individual potential to provide each young person with strategies to successfully progress into adult life. The range of activities and services young people can access is increased to help develop their confidence.

The clinical team includes a Clinical Psychologist, Educational Psychologist and a School Nurse.
