We have an exciting opportunity for a vibrant and enthusiastic qualified Speech and Language Therapist, to join our dynamic, expanding, multi-disciplinary team. Our specialist residential school provides trauma-informed care and education, where all of young people's needs are considered and supported holistically to provide the best possible individual outcomes. As a staff team, we are healing-focussed and highly motivated to enrich the lives of our young people.

 

Our close-knit clinical team currently provides Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. As a setting we also provide Educational Psychology, Owl Therapy and Dog Therapy. We support young people living with social emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism (ASC), communication and sensory difficulties, attachment difficulties, childhood trauma and moderate learning difficulties (MLD). Our positive expectations for our young people are based on:

Job Description

 

Your role will require you to:

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to improve the effectiveness of service delivery. This includes contributing your specialist knowledge and expertise to complete multi-disciplinary reports;
  • Maintain your own specialist, complex caseload of young people, while taking into account priority cases, waiting lists, successful outcomes, referral and discharge of service users;
  • Identify speech, language and communication difficulties or disorders; assessing the cause and nature of the problem;
  • Devise and deliver a suitable therapeutic programme, working on a one-to-one basis or in groups, to enable each of your young people to improve as much as possible;
  • Review, assess and revise the programme as appropriate;
  • Advise parents, carers and education staff on implementing a treatment programme and train those other professionals in therapy delivery;
  • Monitor and evaluate young people's progress. This will be shared in a timely manner to support EHCP reviews, CLA meetings and Kedleston Governance processes, to ensure progress continues to be made and recommendations remain up-to-date and appropriate

·         Participate in a range of team meetings, supporting the progress of our residential and day pupils.

  • Write confidential client case notes and reports, as well as information for clients, carers and other professionals;
  • Plan and deliver training sessions to staff and parents / carers, as appropriate.
  • Participate in Kedleston wide meetings which may require you to travel to other venues.
  • Be willing to work flexibly, in a 52 week provision.
