As Head Teacher at Brookways School, you will be pivotal in leading and developing a team of dedicated and experienced professionals who put our children at the heart of everything they do. Your exceptional vision, leadership and management of the school will ensure the highest standards and quality of specialist autism education provision across key stages 2-4, enabling the school to build on its Ofsted ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding Features’ judgment achieved in 2018.

About you:

Leading by example comes naturally to you. Your knowledge, experience and unpretentious, can-do approach enables you to build credible, lasting and productive relationships with staff, children, parents, corporate colleagues and external stakeholders with ease. Resilience is a key item in your professional toolkit and you are unafraid to challenge the status quo where warranted if this will enable you to innovate and bring about a positive impact on quality and/or standards for the school community. You will be confident in building a high quality provision balanced with the need to maintain a commercial approach.

As well as being an ardent advocate for our children, you will be highly experienced in working with children with SEN and leading, supporting, developing and championing teams to succeed.  You will be enthusiastic and sensitive, with the ability to keep calm in challenging situations in order to deliver the best possible outcomes for the Brookways team and the wider community ensuring the ethos and values of the school are promoted at all times.

You will hold:

  • QTS
  • NPQH (or a willingness to work towards this which we will support you with)
  • Qualification in SEND (desirable)

In addition, you will have substantial, demonstrable leadership and management experience in an SEN school. You will also be able to evidence solid teaching experience with children with autism spectrum condition and associated special emotional and mental health needs. You will have had involvement in school self-evaluation and development planning, and you will be able to demonstrate your experience of successful line management and staff development along with your experience of working with therapeutic teams and developing a relevant curriculum.

About us:

Brookways School, part of Kedleston Group, is an independent specialist day school in North Cheam, for children aged between the ages of 7 and 16. We provide a safe learning environment for pupils living with autism (ASC), mainly Asperger’s Syndrome and higher functioning autism, who also face other challenges such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia and pathological demand avoidance (PDA).
