Teaching Assistant (SEN)

Salary from £18,532 per year (actual salary) - this is a fixed term role for up to 12 months.

Arc School Napton is part of the Kedleston Group and opened in 2008. We are an independent specialist primary school based in a small village in Warwickshire, registered for children between the ages of 5 to 11. Children come to the school because the environment they provide benefits children whose specific educational and social, and or emotional needs cannot be met in mainstream environments.

Our school supports children and young people with a wide range of educational and social needs, the majority of which are associated with the challenges of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, attachment disorder, autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia.  Some young people have social, emotional and mental health difficulties. All of the children and young people who attend the school all have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

As Teaching Assistant you will provide in class support to groups or individual pupils as directed by the class teacher, support the delivery of interventions under the guidance of the Interventions Lead and support children to develop skills as lifelong learners.

Experience & skills:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Motivated to encourage pupils to achieve to the best of their individual ability
  • Working with and supporting pupils with significant social emotional and related needs across Key Stage 1
  • Support pupils to develop skills for life including supporting with personal care (assisting with toileting, helping with meal time expectations etc.)
  • Working with pupils in a small group
  • Proactive, self-motivated and resilient
  • Ability to manage and support behaviours that can challenge
  • Adapting the curriculum and tasks on the go
  • Knowledge of the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 curriculum expectations
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Team player
