About the role:
As Deputy Manager at Wood Grove, you will be an integral part of our team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do. You will be assisting the Registered Manager to promote good child care practice within the home and in the absence of the Registered Manager, you be responsible for all administration/child care functions at the home. You will have day to day supervision and guidance of staff regarding standards of care in line with the regulations for Children’s Homes, quality standards, company policy and procedures and other relevant legislation. You will be responsible for preparing working rotas which utilise staff resources most effectively in line with the needs of both children and staff as well as holding responsibility for previously agreed formal staff supervision and assisting the Registered Manager in informal staff supervision. You will play a significant role in the induction and initial support of new staff.
For this role we are looking for someone who has relevant experience of working with children with a range of needs including behavioural emotional and social difficulties. You will have knowledge of current relevant legislation and guidelines and will hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent and hold or will be working towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent. Wood Grove, part of Kedleston Group Limited, is an independent Children’s Home in Colchester for children and young people aged between the ages of 11 and 18. We support and care for children with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), individuals on the autism spectrum and learning difficulties (LD). Our home provides care, guidance and support which promotes the importance of decision making and taking ownership of those decisions. Our therapeutic approach and systemic based work ensures children and young people are supported to address their feelings and emotions in a safe and supportive way.
