Wings School Cumbria is an independent specialist school and children’s home nestled to the south of the glorious Lake District.
They work with young people who have been affected by social and emotional challenges. There is a strong sense of community at Wings Cumbria where all young people feel safe and nurtured so they can achieve their potential.
The school is set within extensive grounds, both the grounds and the school buildings lend themselves to both on and off-site learning. Facilities include full sized playing pitches, a sports hall, moto-cross & mountain bike tracks and our on-site farm with access to equestrian facilities, to name but a few.
The farm this week has had some new arrivals, and they have been welcomed into their new home by the children and young people. Caring for the animals on the farm is part of the schools’ Animal Care/Land Based Studies programme which is on offer to everyone.
This programme is a very important part of the curriculum at Wings School Cumbria where outdoor leaning allows children and young people who find working in a classroom difficult the opportunity to re-engage in education. This can develop self-confidence, self-esteem and a knowledge of the environment, local ecosystems and the circle of life.
Welcome to Wings School Cumbria!
