Harry Potter enthusiasts from our Wings School Cumbria have had great fun enjoying exploring Malham Cove in Yorkshire. Malham Cove is a huge curving amphitheatre shaped cliff formation of limestone rock. The vertical face of the cliff is about 260 feet high! Scenes for Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows were filmed all around Malham including Malham Cove, the limestone pavement, Malham Tarn and Gordale Scar.
Wings School Cumbria are an independent specialist school and children’s home nestled to the south of the glorious Lake District. They work with young people who have been affected by social and emotional challenges. There is a strong sense of community at Wings Cumbria where all young people feel safe and nurtured so they can achieve their potential.
The highly skilled staff team always go the extra mile for every young person. Many young people at the school lack resilience in terms of their learning and their social and emotional development. Small group teaching with support from a small number of consistent staff who are specifically trained/experienced in working with young people who have social and emotional needs, enables young people to develop positive relationships with adults.
Trips out into the community are an important part of the extended curriculum and allow the children and young people to develop self-confidence, self-esteem, explore different environments and have fun!
