It was a pleasure to welcome in Dean Cody OBE to Wings School Notts this week for a bespoke training session with the staff and the children.
Dean is an Independent Trainer, developing and delivering resource and training packages for Safeguarders and young learners in relation to, Radicalisation and Extremism, Street Gangs, County Lines, CCE, Crime and Consequence and Community Cohesion.
He left some wonderful feedback for us following the session...
“My name is Dean Coady OBE and as you are aware, I attended at Wings, Nottingham on Tuesday 20th July 2021, to deliver County Lines/Criminal Exploitation and Knife-crime awareness to your pupils.
Can I say, what an absolute pleasure it was to have worked with you. From the moment I came to your provision I was warmly greeted and directed to the classroom, where all the technical equipment was available and working.
Your staff supported me throughout the day and we were all very much on the same song sheet when it came to working with your kids. (Lunch was also excellent!)
Now, the absolute stars of the show, the children and young people!
After an initial settling in period, the kids got straight into the training. Albeit the subject content was quite complex, they engaged in the learning in a very respectful and mature manner.
It was a boiling hot day, but they maintained a high standard of good manners and albeit some of the language used was a bit robust (by both them and me!), this did not detract from the fact that we fully explored the consequences of becoming involved in criminal activity and also discussed potential solutions to allow them to get out of some tricky and potentially violent situations.
I would respectfully request that every single young person that came to the training, receive some acknowledgement as to this exemplary behaviour, or if you deem it appropriate, some type of school reward.
These young people are an absolute credit to their parents, the school and of course themselves.”
Thanks Dean, we look forward to welcoming you back really soon!
