Vernon House - Poynton
Kedleston Group is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new residential children’s home in Poynton, Cheshire East which will support young people to achieve positive outcomes and fulfil their potential.
Kedleston currently has 14 schools and residential children’s homes throughout England and decided to expand its care offering after seeing an increased need for bespoke and specialist homes to support vulnerable young people and build on the success of its other residential children’s services.
Vernon House is a modern and comfortable detached property set in a residential street in Poynton. It has five bedrooms and a spacious communal living space which promotes interaction and inclusion among both staff and children.
The home will provide a safe, nurturing and welcoming home for young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties as well as those with autism or a learning difficulty.
Vernon House will be a home for up to 5 children (both boys and girls), from the ages of 12 to 17. The team will support children to access appropriate education provision, be this specialist, mainstream or otherwise up until the completion of their GCSE years and beyond into further education, apprenticeships, training or employment.
For children and young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan there will be the opportunity to attend High Peak School, a Kedleston Group independent specialist school. The school curriculum is designed to give children a wide and varied range of learning experiences to develop their academic, social and emotional ability in both familiar and new environments. Children and young people enjoy access to an extensive range of imaginative learning opportunities which capture and sustain their interest such as forest school, bush craft and creative media.
Each child at Vernon House will engage in an extensive life skills programme, enabling them to learn the skills they will require to support independence in the long term alongside their school curriculum.
Using a therapeutic, supportive and consistent approach children are supported to address their feelings and emotions in a safe and manageable way.
Through close partnerships with families, Local Authorities, professionals and the wider community, the team will ensure that the children meet their full potential and flourish.
“Our children’s home Step Down to Family Living Model has been created alongside children, families, therapeutic professionals, commissioners and a national fostering agency to make sure we have the views and experiences of all the key people in the process, to create something which has the child’s best interests at its core."
