Dr Lynda Mitchell, Kedleston Group’s Director of Quality and Compliance, said: "COVID-19 undoubtedly presented huge challenges for the young people at Brookways School. We’re thrilled to say that 100% of young people achieved a Math and English functional skills qualification.

“They’ve shown great resilience and determination to succeed in achieving these qualifications which will give them a foundation to build on for further success.”

Brookways School is a day school and provides a safe learning environment for pupils living with autism (ASC), mainly Asperger’s Syndrome and higher functioning autism, who also face other challenges such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia and pathological demand avoidance (PDA).

The school is part of the Kedleston Group which has a range of residential and day schools across the UK. Throughout the last academic year across Kedleston, young people achieved formal qualifications including GCSEs and BTECs across a range of subjects over the course of the academic year, even despite the restrictions brought by COVID-19.

These successes and qualifications have seen 100% of leavers across the Group go on to further education, apprenticeships or employment. All of those moving on to further education will move on to a mainstream college environment.
