Arc School Ansley is recruiting an Education Engagement & Reintegration Officer (Securing Education in Schools) to join their team of 35 in September 2020.

This is a full time role (41 hours/week) holding responsibility for the education of children in the school who may struggle to access an onsite curriculum and for:

  • Encouraging the children to return to or stay in school and give them the best possible experience
  • Providing coping strategies and helping children to cope with personal situations
  • Using best practice to encourage inclusion
  • Developing parents’ views and opinions on education

You will work on and off the school site including home, borough and college visits, with clear timed plans with students, communicating with transparency to all stakeholders. The curriculum will be a a social and academic programme and all students will have a clear expectation of a return to full time education on the school site.

Essential requirements

  • Numeracy and literacy qualifications to NVQ level 2, e.g. GCSE grade C in English and Maths or demonstrable equivalent level of knowledge and aptitude.
  • Experience of mentoring young people and of understanding the difficutlies experienced by young people in their learning.
  • Experience of using MS Word and Excel sufficient to maintain records, create own correspondence or records, etc. train and work  on school software packages where required
  • Higher education qualification relevant to working with young people and/or significant recent previous experience in this role.
  • Relevant professional qualification or other accreditation.
  • Knowledge of current, relevant statutory, LA or School practices, guidelines, requirements, initiatives, regulations.
  • An understanding of the support needs of parents.

Arc School Ansley is part of the Kedleston Group and opened in 2014.

We are an independent specialist day school in Ansley, a lovely small village, for children and young people aged between 11 and 17.

Our experienced team is dedicated to providing outstanding education to children and young people a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition, who may have many associated needs such as; social, emotional and mental health needs, communication needs and cognition and learning needs.

Many of our young people have experienced significant difficulties in mainstream school as a result of their associated social, emotional and mental health difficulties.  We support our children and young people through specialist teaching and intervention including a range of therapeutic supports.
