Fernways is seeking to appoint a School Cleaner.

Kedleston Group Ltd is an independent provider of SEMH day and residential schools as well as children’s homes across England. We look for people who have the creativity and enthusiasm needed to deliver the best outcomes for the children and young people we support. Our schools and homes support children and young people living with social, emotional and mental health problems (SEMH) and specific learning difficulties, which affects their learning and ability to do everyday things. Our dedicated autism (ASC) schools work with young people who are high functioning and have associated needs such as mental health problems, attention deficit hyperactive disorder and learning difficulties. We offer staff a comprehensive induction programme and ongoing training to ensure everyone is provided with the best possible start to their employment. Kedleston welcome and nurture staff through the organisation's training provision and seek staff and leaders who are motivated and focused in their delivery of the best education and care support. We have vacancies across England for management, teaching, care, support, administration and ancillary roles within this rapidly developing organisation.

Fernways is a bespoke purpose-built school in Surrey, is being developed following the success of Kedleston Group’s established London based provisions Silverways School, Leaways School and Brookways School. Providing the additional support needed to enable them to meet their full potential and ultimately prepare them for adulthood. The School supports children and young people with autism and associated learning needs, enabling children to re-engage positively with education from 7-16 years old.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The post holder will under the direction of the Site Supervisor and Manager be responsible for supporting with all aspects of domestic housekeeping at Fernways School
  • To maintain high levels of domestic cleanliness to ensure safe school facilities for the children and staff
  • To be an advocate for the school ethos of Pillars of Parenting, seeing and demonstrating its use as paramount to the success of our young people.

Duties and Responsibilities Specific to the Post:

1. Cleaning

(a) Cleaning to a high standard the area or areas delegated by the Domestic Supervisor/Head of Pastoral Care and Operations

(b) Storing safely all cleaning materials at the end of the duty period in the appropriate storage facility.

· Participating in thorough ‘Spring Cleaning’ of allocated areas at specified times

· Adhering to good health and hygiene practices.

3. Care and Maintenance of Equipment

(a) Exercising care in the use of all equipment used.

(b) Reporting damage, faults and repairs necessary to the Maintenance Team.

4. Training and Development

(a) Participating in arrangements for your Induction, supervision, training and development.

(b) Undertaking qualifications deemed necessary by the Headteacher and Operations to fulfil the requirements of the post.

(c) Reviewing your own methods of care and support.

(d) Participating in the safeguarding of all the children and ensuring that High Peak School Child Protection Policy is adhered to.

5. Performance Management

Participating in your own Performance Management arrangements and those of others, as appropriate.

6. Staff Meetings

Attending meetings of staff, as arranged by supervising staff.
