Job Description:

This role is working 5 days a week full time, (some flexibility in hours is available), 40 weeks per year during school term time and INSET plus 6 weeks holiday to be taken during school closure periods.

At Kedleston Group, our vision is simple, every provision we operate will be recognised as ‘outstanding’ in every way.

We will never be the biggest, but we will lead, and others will follow.

As a Speech and Language Therapist at Arc Napton School, you will be an integral part of our team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do. You will be working with all our pupils across the primary age range, supporting the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of children with communication needs. You will manage your own caseload and be expected to work flexibly, providing therapy services to pupils according to clinical need. You will be expected to actively participate in multi-disciplinary meetings, staff meetings, supervision, training and annual appraisals. There is also the potential for working across our other schools in the midlands which can be discussed at interview.

You will have the opportunity to take an active role in the development of the learning environment and support program we offer so that we can improve and expand our offer to younger pupils and pupils who may join us with limited communication skills or being non-verbal.

About you:

For this role, we are looking for someone who has a degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent, UK HCPC Registration, and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. You will have successful post registration practice and experience with young people and ideally have experience of working with children with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and young people with developmental trauma within a Trauma-Informed Model.

You will be able to show that you can effectively manage a clinical caseload of young people with neurodiversity, social and emotional needs along with the ability to carry out a range of effective speech and language therapy assessments and interventions relevant to young people with SEMH needs and neurodevelopmental disorders. You will have knowledge of and commitment to person centred practice in all stages of the speech and language therapy process and be skilled in carrying out both individual and group interventions, evaluate outcomes of intervention and adapt practice accordingly and work closely with teaching staff and carers in the identification of integrated therapy and therapy related individual objectives, and will have a working knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding Legislation and other legislation. If you share our commitment to developing confident and capable young people and making a difference to their lives by meeting their educational, health and social care needs in structured, nurturing school and home provisions, we would love to hear from you.
