This role is working 39 weeks per year during school term time and INSET plus 6 weeks holiday to be taken during school closure periods.

As Administration Assistant at Fernways School, you will be an integral part of our team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do. You will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Office Manager, Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team including monitoring pupil attendance, managing telephone calls, typing, maintaining general and confidential filing systems, making appointments, and maintaining a diary. You will be responsible for and keeping record of outgoing post and packages, including weighing and affixing postage labels, maintaining the visitor and contractor sign-in book and ensuring all visitors and contractors are correctly registered upon entry and exit. You will keep up to date with school events, so you will be able to handle enquiries and answer them quickly and accurately, and where necessary, you will maintain confidentiality and data protection when handling potentially sensitive tasks.

About you:

For this role, we are looking for someone who has experience of working as part of a team but who can also show initiative and work independently. You won’t be one to shy away from answering the phone and will be someone who communicates well to Mill School parents, carers, and external professionals in an appropriate and engaging manner, answering any queries and questions posed. You will be confident in using computer databases and Microsoft packages and be able to demonstrate an organised and effective approach to handling a workload, prioritising, and completing tasks required of you.
