About the role:

As Maths Lead at Brookways School, you will be an integral part of our team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do. You will develop and implement policies for Maths in line with our school’s commitment to high-quality teaching and learning, promote the subject, its importance, and the value that it brings across the school, and have a good understanding of how well the subject is being delivered and the impact it has on pupil achievement. You will develop and review regularly the vision, aims and purpose for the subject area, establishing an effective team and hold regular meetings to keep staff informed on any developments or changes. You will be providing support to staff regarding teaching and learning, resources, and planning in the subject area and monitor teaching and learning by visiting lessons, scrutinising books, and talking with pupils to assess how well the subject area is being implemented and how well it is delivered across the school. 

About you:

For this role, we are looking for someone who holds QTS and has expert knowledge of the National Curriculum, particularly the Maths curriculum. You will understand high-quality teaching and learning strategies in the subject, and the ability to model this for others and support others to improve.  You will have the ability to adapt teaching to meet pupils’ needs, to build effective working relationships with pupils and a knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children. With a proven ability to deliver high quality, lively and effective classroom teaching in an autism-friendly way, which engages and motivates young people you’ll be someone who has a passion for supporting them to learn and develop, and you’ll want to make a difference to the lives and education of our children and young people. About us:

Brookways School, part of Kedleston Group, is an independent specialist day school in North Cheam, for children and young people aged between the ages of 7 and 16. We provide a safe learning environment for pupils living with autism (ASC), mainly Asperger’s Syndrome and higher functioning autism, who also face other challenges such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia and pathological demand avoidance (PDA).
