Science Teacher (Lead)

Dependent on experience 

We are looking for a Science Teacher to join our team at Arc Oakbridge School, Birmingham. 

Arc Oakbridge School is specifically designed to be a low stimulus, calm and nurturing environment in which young people with autism can learn and grow. Our students all have a diagnosis of autism; are all verbal and, also have additional and complex needs, therefore experience in this area is essential. Due to the model of curriculum both primary and secondary specialist applications are welcome.

Reporting into the Head Teacher / Deputy Head Teacher, you will be responsible for contributing to the development and realisation of the whole school science planning, and the aims, vision and ethos of the school.

You will supervise the teaching and non-teaching staff allocated to work in the science department or pastoral group and work collaboratively with other teachers in order to promote mutual understanding of the school curriculum with the aim of improving the quality of teaching and learning in the school.

You will implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for the department of science with the input of staff and building on pupils’ prior knowledge.

Essential requirements:

  • Minimum 2:2 degree in science 
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Demonstrable experience of teaching KS3/KS4 science and maths
  • Experience of working with children with ASC
