Vernon House is seeking to appoint a Team Leader .

Kedleston Group Ltd is an independent provider of SEMH day and residential schools as well as children’s homes across England. We look for people who have the creativity and enthusiasm needed to deliver the best outcomes for the children and young people we support. Our schools and homes support children and young people living with social, emotional and mental health problems (SEMH) and specific learning difficulties, which affects their learning and ability to do everyday things. Our dedicated autism (ASC) schools work with young people who are high functioning and have associated needs such as mental health problems, attention deficit hyperactive disorder and learning difficulties. We offer staff a comprehensive induction programme and ongoing training to ensure everyone is provided with the best possible start to their employment. Kedleston welcome and nurture staff through the organisation's training provision and seek staff and leaders who are motivated and focused in their delivery of the best education and care support. We have vacancies across England for management, teaching, care, support, administration and ancillary roles within this rapidly developing organisation.

Kedleston Group are opening a brand new 5 bedroom children's home in Cheshire which will cater for the children between the ages of 9 – 17 years. The home supports children with social and emotional challenges, including ADHD and autism, that can sometimes affect their behaviour.

Due to company growth and expansion we are looking for committed, supportive and passionate people to join our dynamic and friendly team of residential care workers. You will play a key part in the development and wellbeing of the children, and in return will be supported to progress in your career.

Key aspects of being a Team Leader:

Ensuring effective leadership of the house when on duty, such that it is organised, and managed in a manner that delivers the best possible child care.

2.      Ensuring a high standard of care and support is available to each child when on duty and that all child care practices in place meet the requirements of current legislation and the expectations of the inspecting regulatory bodies.

4.      Participating in the safeguarding of all the children and ensuring that Vernon House’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is adhered to

5.      Promoting and ensuring the general health, safety and welfare of the staff and children and ensuring adherence to Vernon House’s Health and Safety Policy, and contributing to Risk Assessment programme.

6.      Ensuring all the medical needs of the children are catered for and routine appointments and check-ups are maintained.

7.      Ensuring that all current legislation is followed in relation to the handling, recording, safekeeping, administering and disposal of medication.

8.      Maintaining appropriate liaisons with parents / guardians and outside agencies.

9.      Attending meetings of staff and young people under the direction of the Management team.

10.   Assisting with the operational and management budgets relevant to residential life with fellow team leaders.

11.   Taking a full and active role in the induction, supervision, training and appraisal of the care staff which you hold responsibility for, and in particular working with other senior staff in promoting safe practices in positive handling.

12.   Participating in the recruitment and selection of members of the care team including hosting Care Worker visits and providing feedback to members of the Management Team.

13.   Collaborating with the Management Team and Team Teach Instructors in implementing and monitoring relevant aspects of Vernon Houses Behaviour Management: Policy, Procedures and Guidance.

14.   Maintaining detailed records and logs pertaining to the above areas.

15.   Participating in preparing and reviewing Placement Plans for each child and ensuring these meet all regulatory guides, and attending Reviews to represent Vernon House as and when it is appropriate to do so.

16.   Providing cover for the role of Deputy Homes Manager from time to time, under the direction of the Management team

17.   Undertaking other such duties of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the Management team. 

18.  Participating in arrangements for his / her induction, supervision, training and development.

19.   Successfully completing all training and qualifications in accordance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
