Last week Olsen House School in Liverpool celebrated St. George’s Day with the children and staff who are in school. It was a good opportunity to combine English and Art into a fun kinaesthetic task. The children learned about the history and then made St. George’s Day shields using mixed mediums and textures.

The children then had a discussion in groups around the design, size, proportion and the shape; they were all very proud of their shields, taking them home to show parents/ Carers.

Children and young people from diverse backgrounds come to Olsen House School because they cannot continue in mainstream education for various reasons. The school provides a safe learning environment for pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) with associated needs including deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism (ASC), moderate and specific learning difficulties (LD).
