Headteacher's Welcome

“Silverways School provides a fresh approach to education for children with autism and associated learning differences.  Silverways pupils achieve success now, and in the future, through our aspirational curriculum and personal development opportunities.  The low-arousal environment and therapeutic curriculum promote independence and self-regulation and our enrichment clubs expand children’s interests and horizons.

Children thrive and flourish at Silverways and our holistic approach empowers our learners to be confident and capable members of society as adults.”

Jeanette Maynard, Headteacher

Meet the team

Silverways School in Enfield provides specialist support for children with autism and associated needs in a carefully designed environment.

Our welcoming and nurturing school provides a first-class education for up to 50 children aged between seven and 17, in small classes, where the curriculum is broad, balanced and ambitious,

Many of the children at Silverways have found mainstream education challenging and, in some circumstances, traumatic. Some children will have been out of education or have significant gaps in their attendance before joining Silverways. We help children re-engage with education by providing a safe, low arousal environment and a team of outstanding teachers and support staff with a proven track record of successfully teaching children who struggle to cope in school.

Our specially designed environment has been developed to accommodate children’s sensory needs and create the best setting for them to learn and achieve their potential.

What can Silverways School offer?

  • A specially designed learning environment created to meet sensory needs.
  • A low arousal and nurturing safe place where children can learn and grow.
  • Small class sizes of no more than six children.
  • Classrooms will be ‘enabling environments’ with sensory lighting, muted colours and visual timetables.

At Silverways we value the holistic development of the child. Importance is given to developing the children’s social skills, self-confidence, character and resilience as well as following the National Curriculum. Opportunities to acquire life skills are embedded throughout their time at Silverways.

  • "I have just finished reading the Silverways School Welcome Pack. I must say that it is extremely well put together. In fact it was exciting to read and look through the images. I really enjoyed it. The pack is so user friendly, easy to understand, clear and concise. I like that the school put in personal touches such as a water bottle, a pen and postcards. It was very endearing. Thanks to all those that contributed."
