We have had some wonderful April sunshine recently, which coupled with extra time on site has allowed the young people and staff to make some huge changes to the garden area at Wings School Cumbria.
They have cleared the greenhouses; built some raised beds and two benches/flower planters out of reclaimed stone for people to sit and chill. They’ve also started growing lots of different fruit and vegetables including potatoes, broccoli, carrots and even some watermelons! Going forward they are hoping to get the young people involved even more and set up a Farm to Fork shop onsite.
Wings School Cumbria is an independent specialist residential and day provider for boys and girls, who are aged 9 - 17 and have social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) in Cumbria. The school is set within extensive grounds, both the grounds and the school buildings lend themselves to both on and off-site learning.
Well done to Mr Singleton, Mr Stanlake and the super hard working young people who have given up their free time to help in the Easter holidays!
