Children’s Mental Health Week đź’™
Children's Mental Health Week was launched by Place2Be in 2015 and each year, hundreds of schools, children, parents and carers take part. It’s a time to come together and make a difference to the lives of our children.
But how do we help our children and young people struggling with their wellbeing and mental health? Our approach aims to empower children and young people, helping them lead healthy, fulfilling lives, build meaningful relationships, and reach their full potential.
We focus on the importance of creating a secure environment for them to explore new connections and attachments. This safety forms the foundation for regulating emotions, opening doors to learning and personal growth.
Join us this week as we find out more about the Kedleston Group Therapeutic Model, and meet some of our experienced therapists who work tirelessly to support the mental health wellbeing of our children…
Today we take a focus on Speech and Language Therapy:
Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) play a crucial role in Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools, particularly for children and young people with complex needs, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), autism, and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) challenges.
Overall, the role of a Speech and Language Therapist across our specialist schools is integral to promoting effective communication, social interaction, and overall well-being for children and young people with complex needs.
We caught up with Jane Green, Speech and Language Therapist at our High Peak School in Cheshire East to find out about her experience and expertise.
