Laura Redhead
SENCO & Assistant Head of Education
Laura has been in post at High Peak School since 2018.
She is responsible for EHCP/PEP/CLA reviews, Interventions, ASC curriculum, KS2 curriculum, Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSED), referrals and inductions for new pupils. She also overseas Outdoor Education and Assessment.
As the clinical team link, Laura works closely with our in house clinical team to ensure all pupils are receiving the correct therapeutic input to enable them to progress in their essential skills targets (PSED) as well as academically. Laura also oversees the Quiet Learning Zone where pupils follow the Autism Education Trust progression framework. This helps staff to identify learning priorities and measure progress in areas that fall outside the national curriculum such as social, emotional, independence life skills and learning needs.
Laura is passionate about learning outdoors and providing opportunities to help individuals to find activities they are passionate about developing talents in. As a Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills practitioner, Laura incorporates these principals into all of her work. Laura is dedicated to ensuring the High Peak community embed a trauma informed approach to enable individuals to engage in thriving learning and flourish in life beyond school. Laura enjoys hiking, camping, mountain biking, cooking, rugby, muay thai boxing and is always keen to coach pupils in these disciplines.
