English Teacher - SEN

Salary range: £30,000 (M1) - £46,525 (UPS3) plus £2,539 SEN allowance per year

As the school’s English Teacher you will be responsible for delivering English lessons to the pupils in Years 8-11 and supporting teachers of other year groups. You will deliver engaging lessons and ensure the curriculum is accessible for all our pupils.

It is an exciting time for Arc School Old Arley, we are currently developing a unique vocational offer for pre-16 pupils with SEMH needs. Anyone joining our team in the coming months will be doing so at a pivotable point in the school’s improvement.

About you:

You will be a qualified (QTS/QTLS) teacher of English, ideally, with experience of working in a special education setting with children with social, emotional and mental health needs and autism spectrum conditions. Applications from those working in mainstream settings are very welcome.

You will be adept at tailoring your teaching and lessons to respond to the strengths and needs of pupils. You will be able to set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils as well as promote good progress and outcomes by pupils.

You will possess good subject and curriculum knowledge and will be comfortable to participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for external tests where necessary and appropriate. You will provide levels of care and support appropriate to the general needs of the children and those outlined in their EHCP’s and individualised plans.

About us:

Arc School Old Arley, part of Kedleston Group, is an independent specialist day school near Nuneaton, for children and young people aged between the ages of 7 and 16. We provide a safe learning environment for children and young people with a wide range of varying needs including social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), autism (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attachment difficulties (AD).
