National Careers Week (NCW) is a celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK and runs from the 6th to the 11th March 2023.
The aim is to provide a focus for careers guidance activity at an important stage in the academic calendar to help support young people leaving education.
Here at Kedleston, our mission is to develop confident and capable young people by meeting their educational, health and social care needs in structured, nurturing school and home provisions.
At every stage of their education and care, we focus on preparing young people for the next stage, putting the development of their independence at the heart of everything we do.
The outcomes we aspire to for all our young people include:
- A thorough education for the very best start in life.
- A range of recognised and accredited qualifications.
- Occupational and apprenticeship pathways.
- Independence Pathways.
- Preparation for next steps into adulthood.
We work closely with families, local colleges, and careers services to work out the best possible opportunities for our young people.
Our schools and homes have personalised work experience programmes in place which have been specially designed in line with the individual needs of our young people.
These bespoke preparation for adulthood programmes supports children across all Key Stages and focus on transition and destination work.
Where possible, we work with local businesses and industries to tailor the experience to meet each young person’s specific interests.
Some of our young people go on to working in the hospitality industry, joining the national service or working in care roles.
We’ll do everything we can to ensure brighter futures for our children. Stick with us this week to find out more about careers through Kedleston.
Let’s celebrate careers guidance and amazing opportunities together!
