As part of the KS4 history GCSE curriculum the children have studied both WW1 and WW2 in class this year. To round off these units they visited the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester where were lucky enough to be able to access displays on warfare ranging from 1908 to the present day.
They saw displays on life in the trenches, field hospitals and medical care in WW1, home front, women at war and concentration camps which directly linked to modules we have studied as a group. There were also some fascinating modern warfare and conflict sections which included a massive piece of twisted frame which came from the World Trade centre!
Everyone really enjoyed it and there were lots of opportunities for photographs including posting in front of a T-55 soviet tank! Thanks to the students who really represented the school well, what a fantastic day!
