As part of the Photography curriculum at Wings Cumbria, young people from KS3 have spent a morning making bird feeders out of recycled materials and fruit with the aim of attracting a variety of local species that we could photograph.
Getting good photos took a lot of time and patience, which paid off as we managed to snap a fantastic picture of a Great Red Spotted WoodPecker! We can often hear their drumming display on-site at Wings Cumbria but very rarely see them.
We are delighted by the variety of birds that continue to visit the feeders and hope to see them nesting in our bird boxes around school.
