Students from Wings School Cumbria have successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award! The two-day expedition took them from the shores of Coniston Water, around Grizedale Forest and then on to Wray Castle near Ambleside. Walking a total distance of over 20km, the group had to cook their own food, set up their tents and even enjoyed a dip in Coniston Water. Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator Chris Stanlake said, “It is a massive achievement for these students to complete the Bronze Award and it is something they should be very proud of.”
In addition to the Expedition section the students completed Physical, Skills and Volunteering Sections. Activities included hillwalking, cookery skills and conservation work. Planning and preparation for next year’s Expedition has started already!
