Wings School Cumbria is a safe, and caring community where there is a passion for learning and mutual respect for all. Children and young people have the opportunity to develop to their full potential in preparation for their future lives in a nurturing setting. They are committed to providing the highest standards in both Education and Care.
There is a particular focus on outdoor learning which enables those children and young people who find working in a classroom difficult the opportunity to re-engage in their education and the school community.
The children and young people have been recently enjoying the great outdoors and the natural beauty on their doorstep at Wings Cumbria by getting involved in biking, kayaking and paddle boarding within the Lake District National Park.
Mr Gregg, Mr Cormack, Mr Willis and Miss Young have been taking children to explore the area and learn some new skills whilst doing so. Regular mountain bike trips to Whinlatter and Gisburn have provided the children with an ideal opportunity to boost their fitness and learn about the skills needed to ride these testing trails as well as working as a team and learning how to look after their bikes.
Wings Cumbria have continued to use the facilities on offer by Windermere Outdoor Adventure, with kayaking and stand up paddle boarding proving very popular with all the children. There is a large emphasis on enjoyment whilst developing paddling skills as well as enjoying the beautiful scenery and exploring the lake environment in a safe and respectful manner.
Looks a lot of fun!
