We have been holding a Kedleston Group fundraising day across all of our school and homes to hopefully raise lots of money to support young people and their families affected by mental health.
This week’s focus at our Wings School Cumbria has been Mental Health Awareness Week and the chosen word of this week has been ‘Kindness’.
They have introduced ‘hug in a mug’ where each young person receives their own mug filled with goodies, the winner from the previous day nominates the next lucky recipient.
Nominations have included:
- being top points achiever for the week
- For always making me feel part of Wings since the day I arrived
- For always smiling
- For saying my hair looked nice when I knew I had got glue in it during Art!!
The children and young people have also been asked what their definition of ‘kindness’ is. One young person wrote the following:
Kindness
What is kindness? Kindness is being nice and kind to others around you.
A time I have shown kindness is when I loaned out my Harry Potter Books to Miss Ward so her son could read them.
A time someone has shown me kindness was when Mr Newell lent me some Xbox games that I had been trying to buy and he had copies that he no longer used.
‘In a world where you can be anything ‘BE KIND ’
What wonderful words, sounds like you have had a great week raising awareness and showing support Wings School Cumbria. Well Done!
