Governance and quality assurance

At Kedleston Group, we are committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-driven education for neurodivergent children and young people. Our governance framework ensures that every school operates to the highest standards of safety, compliance, educational quality, transparency and accountability.

A governance system rooted in accountability and the voice of the child

Strong governance is central to the Kedleston Group culture. Our system is built around the principle that children’s needs, views and experiences must drive decision‑making at every level. Governance both supports and challenges each school to ensure that all pupils receive the best possible education in a safe, nurturing environment.

The Kedleston Group Board holds final responsibility for governance, delegating operational oversight to a highly skilled Board of Governors. This board includes the Chief Operating Officer, two Non‑Executive Directors, the Quality Director and Regional Directors. Together, they bring deep expertise across education, safeguarding, health & social care, and compliance.

Two specialist committees support this governance framework:

  • The Safeguarding Overview Committee (SOC)
  • The Quality Assurance & Compliance Committee (QACC)

How governance operates across our schools

The Kedleston Group's governance processes are multi‑layered and high‑frequency, providing robust assurance and early identification of risk.

  • Regular Oversight Includes:
  • Weekly monitoring of key performance indicators
  • Weekly Headteacher reports to senior leaders
  • Annual full audits across safeguarding, HR, health & safety, medication, education and compliance
  • Termly in‑person governance meetings
  • Regular leadership and school visits by senior executives
  • External specialist audits when required

Leadership expertise

Governance is strengthened by leaders with extensive experience in education, safeguarding, health and social care. This includes the Chief Operating Officer and Non‑Executive Directors with deep expertise in SEND, school improvement, regulatory standards and leadership.

Commitment to transparency and assurance

Our governance framework provides confidence in educational quality, safeguarding practice, regulatory compliance and risk management. It ensures that every school is well‑led, well‑supported and continuously improving.
