About us

Kedleston Group exists to nurture brighter futures for neurodiverse children. Since opening our first school in 2006, we’ve grown thoughtfully and purposefully into a group of specialist day schools across England, each designed to help children learn, belong and thrive.

Today, we educate over 800 pupils across our schools, partnering with families, Local Authorities and a network of connected professionals to create opportunities for every young person to thrive in education and far beyond it.

Our mission

To nurture confident and capable young people through therapeutic and holistic education, preparing them for their next steps in education, work and life.

Our therapeutic approach

What we do

We are experts at providing holistic therapeutic education, blending high-quality teaching with the right therapeutic and clinical support, at the right time, so learners can make progress with confidence.

We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach; our practice across the Kedleston Group is tailored to the strengths and needs of each pupil.

What we offer

Each Kedleston Group school has its own identity and clearly defined pupil profile. What connects them is a shared offer built around the whole child:

Specialist education

Adaptive teaching, structured routines, visual clarity and low-arousal classrooms help learners feel safe, regulated and ready to lea

Therapeutic and holistic support

Wellbeing, regulation and communication sit alongside academic learning, because progress is strongest when children feel understood and supported.

Enhanced life skills

Practical skills for independence, self-advocacy, personal organisation, travel training and community confidence are woven through the curriculum.

Vocational preparation and pathways

From enterprise and work-related learning to technical subjects and accredited pathways, we help every young person plan realistic next steps toward further study, training and employment.

Flexible Learning Programmes (EBSNA‑informed)

We recognise the growing number of young people struggling to attend school due to Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). Our flexible programmes offer phased, personalised timetables, smaller, quieter spaces, outreach and community-based sessions, and a clear plan to rebuild confidence and reconnect with learning safely and gradually.

Building inclusive learning environments

We’re specialists in designing learning environments that work for neurodiverse children, spaces that are calm, clearly structured and purpose-built to reduce anxiety and support focus.

  • Low‑arousal design: considered lighting and acoustics, uncluttered visuals, defined zones and predictable transitions.
  • Therapeutic spaces: sensory‑smart breakout areas, reflection rooms and movement opportunities that help with regulation and readiness to learn.
  • Embedded technology and specialist resources: communication tools, assistive technology and curriculum resources that enhance independence and engagement.
  • Outdoors that belong to learning: gardens, courtyards and outdoor classrooms designed for exploration, regulation and hands-on learning.

Our people

Our people are the heart of Kedleston Group. Expert teachers, dedicated teaching assistants, skilled therapy teams and compassionate support staff work together every day to understand each learner deeply and to remove barriers to progress. We invest in professional learning, reflective practice and multidisciplinary teamwork, because when adults learn and grow, children do too.
