From Field to Fork: GCSE Pupils Gain a Taste of the Hospitality Industry

Wednesday, 1st July 2026, 09:30

Arc School Ansley’s GCSE pupils enjoyed a memorable visit to Miller & Carter, where they explored the journey from field to fork, discovered how a professional kitchen operates, and even cooked their own steaks on the grill.

Our GCSE group were fortunate to visit Miller & Carter, where they gained valuable insight into the hospitality industry. Pupils experienced first-hand how the kitchen team prepares, cooks, and serves the meals offered to customers. They also attended an engaging "Field to Fork" presentation, which helped them understand the journey of the beef used in the restaurant’s steak dishes. A particular highlight of the visit was the opportunity for pupils to cook their own steak on the grill before enjoying the finished product. The experience was both educational and enjoyable, providing a meaningful link between learning and industry practice.
