Therapy

At our school, we understand that every child is unique and so are their needs. Our dedicated therapy team plays a vital role in helping children grow, learn, and feel confident in themselves.

We work closely with pupils, families, and staff to provide tailored support that helps children overcome barriers to learning and fully engage in school life. Our team includes professionals such as:

Therapy sessions may take place one-to-one, in small groups, or within the classroom, depending on each child’s needs. We also work with teaching staff to embed therapeutic strategies into daily routines, ensuring consistent support throughout the school day.

Our goal is to help every child feel safe, understood, and empowered—so they can enjoy learning, build friendships, and reach their full potential.

Occupational therapy

Occupational Therapy plays a vital role in helping our children develop the everyday skills they need to feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn.

Many of our pupils experience a range of sensory needs. Nicola works closely with them to understand how they respond to different environments, textures, sounds, and movements. Through detailed assessments, she identifies specific challenges and creates personalised interventions to support each child’s sensory regulation and overall well-being.

These tailored strategies may include sensory circuits, calming techniques, movement breaks, or adapted tools to support fine motor development. Nicola also provides bespoke resources and aids to help children access learning, manage transitions, and participate fully in school life.

Her work ensures that every child feels understood and supported, enabling them to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

Speech and language therapy

Kirsty, our dedicated Speech and Language Therapist, plays a key role in supporting children to develop essential communication skills. Her work helps pupils express themselves, understand others, and build meaningful social connections—skills that are vital for learning and life.

Through careful assessment, Kirsty identifies each child’s unique strengths and areas of need, whether that’s understanding language, expressing thoughts, or interacting socially. Based on these insights, she delivers targeted interventions, either one-to-one or in small groups, to support progress in a way that’s tailored and effective.

Kirsty also creates bespoke resources and communication aids designed specifically for each pupil. These tools help children access learning, engage confidently with others, and participate fully in the school day.

Her thoughtful and personalised approach ensures that every child feels heard, supported, and empowered to communicate with confidence.

Educational psychology

At Arc School Napton, our Assistant Educational Psychologist (AEP), Sophie, plays a vital role in supporting the learning, emotional well-being, and development of pupils with special educational needs.

Sophie works closely with teachers, support staff, families, and external professionals to help create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Her work is grounded in psychological theory and evidence-based practice, with a strong emphasis on early intervention and tailored support.

Key aspects of Sophie’s role include:

  • Observation and Assessment – Identifying pupils’ strengths and needs through classroom observations, informal assessments, and collaboration with staff and families.
  • Intervention Planning – Helping to design and deliver targeted strategies that support learning, emotional regulation, and social development.
  • Staff Support – Assisting in the development of classroom strategies and resources to meet diverse pupil needs.
  • Data and Research – Gathering and analysing information to inform practice and evaluate the impact of interventions.
  • Promoting Inclusion – Ensuring all pupils feel valued, understood, and supported to reach their full potential.

Sophie is an integral part of our wider pastoral and inclusion team, helping to ensure that every child receives the support they need to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.

Emotional support dogs and animals

Meet Penny – Our Wonderful Emotional Support Dog

Penny, our emotional support dog, is a truly special member of our school community. Loved by pupils and staff alike, she brings calm, comfort, and joy to everyone she meets.

For children who experience anxiety or emotional dysregulation, spending time with Penny can make a real difference. Whether it’s stroking her soft fur, sitting quietly beside her, or simply enjoying her gentle presence, Penny helps children feel safe, soothed, and supported.

Her warm and trusting nature creates a calming environment where pupils can begin to regulate their emotions, reconnect with themselves, and feel ready to re-engage with learning. Penny’s impact goes far beyond the classroom—she helps build confidence, emotional resilience, and a sense of connection.

We’re incredibly lucky to have Penny as part of our team, and the children absolutely adore her.
