We recently took our pupils on an unforgettable journey to infinity and beyond with our first ever MILE Day, the Mapesbury Immersive Learning Experience.
On 22 May, our school was transformed into a galaxy far, far away as classrooms became starships, space stations and alien worlds. The day brought learning to life through hands on challenges, teamwork and a playful sci fi storyline that placed pupils right at the centre of the action.
For our debut MILE Day, we embraced a Space and Sci Fi theme, complete with atmospheric lighting, sound effects and nods to classics such as Star Trek and Star Wars. Pupils became members of the Mapesbury Space Fleet, working together to complete an intergalactic mission.
Staff and pupils fully embraced the experience, dressing in Space Fleet inspired outfits as different areas of the school were transformed into immersive sci fi zones.
The day began with a mission briefing during tutor time, before pupils rotated through a series of themed challenges led by our teaching team. Each activity linked back to the overarching storyline, with pupils earning rewards for teamwork, curiosity and positive engagement.
Our Head Teacher, Adam De Vecchi, said the day was a huge success.
“MILE Day was an incredible experience for our pupils,” they said. “They were completely absorbed in the story, worked brilliantly as teams and showed so much enthusiasm throughout the day. Seeing them so engaged, curious and excited about learning was fantastic. This is exactly the kind of creative, immersive experience that helps our pupils thrive.”
We concluded the adventure with a celebratory finale, recognising each Space Fleet crew’s achievements and the successful completion of their mission.
MILE Day has already become a proud new tradition at Mapesbury School, one that sparks imagination, builds confidence and makes learning truly unforgettable.
