Message from the Headteacher

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Mapesbury School - a nurturing and aspirational school where every young person is seen, supported and celebrated.

Our aim is simple: to create a safe, inclusive environment where pupils can grow in confidence, achieve meaningful progress and feel proud of who they are.

We understand that every learner is unique. That’s why we offer personalised education, small class sizes and integrated therapeutic support to meet the needs of each individual. Our team includes specialist teachers, therapists and support staff who work closely with families to ensure that education and care go hand in hand.

At Mapesbury, we believe learning should be inspiring, relevant and empowering. We follow a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to each pupil’s individual strengths and interests, including opportunities for nationally recognised qualifications and the development of life skills. Alongside this, we promote social communication, emotional well-being and independence as core areas of growth.

Our purpose-built school in Brent has been designed with calm, sensory-aware spaces to help pupils feel settled and ready to learn. But what truly makes us special is the kindness and expertise of our staff and the belief that every child can succeed, on their own terms.

We look forward to welcoming families and professionals into our school community.

What We Offer

Individualised education

Individualised education

Learning at Mapesbury is inclusive, aspirational and tailored to help each young person grow in confidence and thrive in school and beyond.

We provide a personalised and ambitious education for children aged 7 to 16 with Autism and associated needs. We combine academic learning with social, emotional and life skills development in a nurturing and structured environment.

We create predictability, reduce anxiety and build independence. Our low-arousal and well-organised classrooms help pupils stay regulated and engaged, with social communication, sensory integration and emotional literacy embedded throughout the school day.

Therapy

Therapy

Our on-site therapy team works closely with teaching staff to build a whole-school focus on strong relationships and embed therapeutic strategies across teaching and learning. Their expertise helps create a positive and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive.

Interventions are delivered in a range of ways, including integrated classroom support, small group sessions and individual work where required. By embedding therapy into learning, we help pupils build the confidence, skills and self-awareness they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Life Skills and Vocational Preparation

Life Skills and Vocational Preparation

We believe education should prepare young people for life. That’s why life skills and vocational learning are central to our curriculum, helping pupils develop the confidence, independence and practical abilities they need for adulthood.

We offer structured opportunities to build essential everyday skills - from money management to cooking, self-care and community engagement. These skills are taught through real-life contexts, supported by visual aids, clear routines and consistent reinforcement.
