The BTEC Photography students visited Westminster Abbey to explore religious architecture and symbolism through photography. During the trip, pupils studied the building’s design, structure, and intricate details, supported by a guided tour which provided historical and contextual insights. They observed how light interacts with stained glass, stone textures, and interior spaces. Students practised key compositional techniques such as symmetry, framing, and perspective to capture the grandeur and spiritual atmosphere. This experience enhanced their technical skills and deepened their understanding of architectural storytelling, supporting the development of their personal photographic style within a historic and cultural context.
