Wings School Notts Becomes Dukes Wood School

Wednesday, 29th July 2026, 13:39

Wings School Notts is celebrating an exciting new chapter as it prepares to become Dukes Wood School from 1 September.

The new name reflects the school's strong connection to the local area and its heritage, while recognising the significant evolution of its specialist educational provision in recent years.

The change comes at a particularly exciting time for the school, which is preparing to unveil a range of major developments designed to enhance both teaching and learning. These improvements include expanded classroom facilities, new science laboratories, food technology and multimedia rooms, and enhanced sensory provision featuring an immersive technology suite and a dedicated sensory room.

Together, these new facilities will support an enriched curriculum, providing pupils with an even broader range of opportunities. From farm-based learning experiences to vocational qualifications, pupils will be able to develop the skills, confidence and knowledge they need to thrive both in education and beyond.

The transition to Dukes Wood School also reflects the school's continued development as a specialist day school, ensuring its provision remains closely aligned with the needs of the children and young people it serves today and in the future.

While the name is changing, the school's purpose remains the same: helping every pupil feel safe, valued and supported to achieve their full potential. As Dukes Wood School, the team looks forward to building on its proud history and continuing to create brighter futures for the young people and families it serves.

Dukes Wood School will remain part of Kedleston Group, with no changes to its ownership, governance or day-to-day operation. The new name reflects the school's ongoing growth and development while maintaining the same strong leadership, values and unwavering commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes for pupils.
