Fernways School

Year 7 pupils from Fernways School enjoyed a valuable trip to the local garden centre this week as part of their PSHE and life-skills learning. The visit helped them explore the real costs and responsibilities involved in caring for different animals. Students compared prices of enclosures, equipment, and food, and learned what animals need to stay healthy. They especially enjoyed the reptile and aquatic areas, observing snakes, lizards, frogs, and fish. Staff shared interesting insights about habitats, feeding routines, and specialist care. Our learners showed fantastic curiosity - asking thoughtful questions and discovering just how much commitment (and hidden cost!) comes with even small pets. It was a great opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-life experience, and we’re very proud of how maturely and enthusiastically they represented the school.
