Message from the Headteacher

Hello, and a very warm welcome to our school.

High Peak School is a happy, nurturing community where every child is valued as an individual. We recognise that choosing the right school for your child is an important decision, and I would like to assure you that your child will be welcomed into a caring and supportive environment.

Every child brings their own strengths, challenges, and aspirations. At High Peak School, we take great care to understand each pupil personally, celebrating their achievements—both big and small—and helping them develop confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning.

We work in close partnership with parents and carers, acknowledging the vital role you play as experts on your child. Together, we ensure that every pupil feels safe, understood, and fully supported to achieve their very best. Our staff are dedicated professionals who are committed to providing an environment in which all children feel secure, valued, and encouraged to thrive.

One of the things that makes our school special is the sense of warmth and belonging you experience as soon as you walk through the door. We are incredibly proud of our pupils and of the progress they make during their time with us.

I hope our website offers you an insight into life at High Peak School. However, I warmly encourage you to visit us in person to see the school in action, meet our wonderful children, and experience the atmosphere that makes our community so unique.

What We Offer

Education Offer

Education Offer

At High Peak School, we provide a supportive, inclusive environment where every child is valued as an individual. Our curriculum develops academic, social, and emotional skills, helping pupils grow in confidence, independence, and resilience. Core subjects are combined with creative and practical learning to ensure a broad and balanced education. Our experienced staff work closely with pupils to celebrate achievements, overcome challenges, and nurture aspirations. Parents and carers are key partners, providing guidance and consistent support.

Pupils follow an ambitious, well-sequenced curriculum tailored to their needs. It builds on prior knowledge and is adapted to ensure accessibility for all learners. At Key Stage 4, pupils choose from BTECs, Cambridge Nationals, Open Awards, and GCSEs, aligned with their interests and career goals. These choices are regularly reviewed to ensure learning remains relevant, engaging, and focused on preparing pupils for future education, training, or employment.

Clinical and Therapy Support

Clinical and Therapy Support

Our clinical and therapy support is central to helping pupils learn, grow, and thrive. Our in-house team provides Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, and Educational Learning support, working closely together with regular MDT meetings alongside the SENDCO.

These services are fully embedded into daily school life, promoting wellbeing, independence, and personalised support so every child can access learning in a safe and nurturing environment.

All new pupils receive baseline assessments and observations to create tailored programmes, with ongoing referrals welcomed throughout their time at school. Using the Universal, Targeted, Specialist (UTS) model, support is delivered flexibly through whole-school initiatives, group sessions, or individual interventions.

The visiting Educational Psychologist and Clinical Psychologist provide supervision and staff training. Assistant Psychologists deliver interventions including the Zones of Regulation and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy strategies, while Speech and Language Therapists support communication, language, and social skills. Occupational Therapists provide sensory profiles, targeted groups, and access to dedicated OT and Sensory Integration rooms to help every pupil reach their full potential.

Life Skills and Vocational Preparation

Life Skills and Vocational Preparation

Pupils gain the practical skills and vocational experiences they need for adulthood. They develop essential life skills such as self-care, money management, cooking, and social communication, alongside career-focused learning through work experience, college experiences, and vocational training in horticulture, land skills, and animal care.

PSHE and RHSE lessons support personal growth, fostering self-awareness, resilience, and understanding of topics such as discrimination, cultural acceptance, and personal responsibility. Character education, SMSC, and British values are woven throughout the curriculum to prepare pupils to be active and responsible members of society.

Friday enrichment sessions complement learning with team-based activities, including Duke of Edinburgh awards, creative and performing arts, live music, sports, horse riding, horticulture, outdoor education and mindfulness, helping pupils build confidence, independence, and employability skills for the future.
