At High Peak, we concluded Pride Month by celebrating Diversity Week, an opportunity for our school community to recognise, appreciate and celebrate the unique qualities that make each of us who we are. Throughout the week, students engaged in meaningful discussions during form time and PSHE lessons, exploring themes such as inclusion, equality, respect and belonging.
The week ended in our vibrant Rainbow Friday celebration. Staff and students came together by wearing an array of colourful clothing, creating a bright and positive atmosphere across the school. Enrichment activities were themed around diversity and inclusion, providing students with opportunities to learn from one another, share experiences and celebrate our school community.
As part of the celebrations, students were invited to share their thoughts on the question, “What does diversity mean to you?” Their responses were written on heart shapes, which were then displayed on our beautiful Diversity Tree. This collaborative display now takes pride of place in the school reception area, serving as a lasting reminder of our commitment to kindness, acceptance and respect for all.
Students also showcased their creativity through our Diversity Art Competition. Through a range of imaginative and thought-provoking artwork, students expressed their understanding of individuality, inclusion and community. The competition highlighted the talent of our students while reinforcing the message that our differences are something to be celebrated.
Diversity Week was a fantastic way to end Pride Month, providing students with opportunities to learn, reflect and celebrate the values that help make High Peak a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.
