We are delighted to announce that High Peak School has been awarded the Skills Builder Silver Award for 2026-29. This achievement recognises our commitment to developing essential employability and life skills through the Skills Builder framework, which focuses on speaking, listening, problem solving, creativity, adapting, planning, leadership and teamwork.
The programme has had a particularly positive impact on pupils in the KS4 Nurture class, helping them to recognise and develop the skills they need for everyday life, future education and employment. These skills are embedded throughout the Life Skills curriculum, with pupils regularly having opportunities to practise and apply them in real-life contexts, including activities within the local community.
A key element of the programme's success is the opportunity for pupils to reflect on the skills they have used during their lessons. Through regular reflection, pupils develop a greater understanding of their strengths, build confidence and recognise how the skills they learn in school can be applied beyond the classroom. This self-awareness is an important part of preparing pupils for their next steps after High Peak School.
Following this success, we are committed to continuing to embed Skills Builder across the curriculum. Through a range of projects, challenges and collaborative learning opportunities, pupils will further develop these essential skills while making meaningful connections across different areas of learning.
We are incredibly proud of our pupils and staff for their hard work in achieving this award and look forward to building on this success in the years ahead.
